The first version of LaMusica allows users to test both their knowledge of musical theory and instinct for pitch. Users select the musical keys of C, D, or E Major to practice in.

Users select the notes that belong in each scale. Upon selection, users are told the degree of each note (tonic, supertonic, etc) if the note does belong in the musical key selected. Other theory such as modes or number of sharps in a key is also tested. The pitch of a note sounds upon selection of a note, enabling users to test their pitch as they study music theory.
